Why it's trending

The first tickets for Glastonbury 2027 sold out in less than 30 minutes, according to the festival’s organisers, setting the tone for a general sale on Sunday morning that is expected to be fiercely contested. BBC News reported that the coach-package tickets went on sale at 18:00 BST on Thursday and were gone in under half an hour, with the sell-out announced in a post on Instagram.

The festival returns to Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, from 23 to 27 June 2027 after a fallow year in 2026. General admission tickets go on sale at 09:00 BST on Sunday, BBC News said, and anyone hoping to buy one must already have pre-registered on the Glastonbury website.

How the queue works this year

Organisers have changed the booking process for this sale. BBC News reported that buyers must now enter their registration number upfront, before entering the queue, rather than at the end of the process. Previously, several people could log in on behalf of one registration to secure extra places in the queue; now, entering the same registration number in a different browser or phone returns you to the same place in the line.

In recent years the festival has used an automatic queuing system on the day of sale, with fans needing to be online before the start with a valid registration number, according to BBC News. Once through, buyers can purchase up to six tickets per transaction after paying a deposit. Registration closed on 25 September and will not reopen until after the October sales, so anyone who missed that deadline will have to wait for the spring resale.

“It now starts with a four rather than a three”

General admission tickets are priced at £408 for 2027. Jessi Dimmock, from the festival podcast Glasto Cast, told BBC News that she understands some people might “wince” at the higher price. “Anyone who has been to Glastonbury, it is magical,” she said. “The small things are what makes it. It’s just chaos in the best way.” She added: “But I do understand, seeing it written down, you do wince at the fact that it now starts with a four rather than a three.”

Dimmock described the ticket sale itself as “the most stressful weekend of my year”, BBC News reported. “I’ll be there Sunday morning with my phone, my laptop, and my coffee and I will be stressed.”

No Oasis, says Emily Eavis

Headliners for 2027 have not been confirmed. BBC News reported that Emily Eavis has said Oasis are not due to play, despite speculation among fans after the band announced a run of 2027 shows across the UK, Ireland, Europe and the United States last week that appeared to leave a Glastonbury-shaped gap in their calendar. Eavis addressed the rumour in a direct reply to one festival-goer on social media.

Checklist for Sunday morning

  • Be online before 09:00 BST with your registration number ready, as BBC News reported it is now required before you join the queue.
  • Do not open the sale in several browsers or on several phones with the same registration; BBC News said this puts you in the same queue position, not a better one.
  • Have payment details for the deposit to hand, as tickets are secured with a deposit and up to six can be bought in one transaction.
  • If you were not registered by 25 September, you cannot buy on Sunday; the spring resale is the next opportunity.

The pace of Thursday’s coach sale suggests demand for the first festival since the fallow year is as strong as organisers hoped. With the main allocation still to come, Sunday at 09:00 is the moment most fans have been waiting for since the 2026 break was announced.
